This course teaches students to learn the theories and applications of sustainable energy, emphasizing its sustainable utilization. The contents cover the basic theories, latest available technologies and prospective scenarios of the energy-containing waste resources, and natural sustainable and renewable energy. The specific topics of sustainable energies taught include: waste to energy, solar thermal energy, solar photovoltaic energy, bio-energy, hydroelectricity, tidal power, wind energy, wave energy, geothermal energy and case studies. The integrated application of available energy-containing waste resources and natural sustainable and renewable energies is also discussed. In addition, the efficient use of energy and its environmental impacts and pollution control are emphasized.
